Dorothy (Taylor) Miklic Cowen

Dorothy Taylor Miklic Cowen, 93, of Spring Hill, Florida and formerly of Washington (Laboratory) passed away Thursday July 27, 2017 in her home.

She was born April 13, 1924 the daughter of Earl L. and Amelia Sconing Taylor.

She graduated from Trinity High School in 1943.

Bell Telephone employed her as an Operator for many years.

She enjoyed making quilts for her children and grandchildren; and liked to cook. She loved flowers, and raising orchids, reading, and playing cards were very enjoyable for her.

Mrs. Miklic Cowen was a member of the Washington Senior Citizens where she participated in a group of singers and dancers.

She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and was a member of the Ten Year Pioneer Club of Bell Telephone Company employees. 

She was a member of St. Hilary Church in Washington and St. Francis Cabrini Parish in Florida. 

Mrs. Miklic Cowen was preceded in death by her first husband Ralph Miklic who passed away two weeks after their fiftieth anniversary. 

She then married Chalmer E. Cowen in 1997 and resided in Florida for seventeen years before his death in 2014.

Surviving are three children Kathleen D. (Jim) Bock of St. Clairsville, OH, Rick Miklic of Spring Hill, FL and David (Rita) Miklic of Homosassa, FL, one step-daughter Barbara (Tom) Hebert of Spring Hill, FL, and a brother David (Alfreda) Taylor of Sheffield, OH. 

Also surviving are six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and especially her good friends Liz Sobansky, Grace DeMay and Beanie Angott. 

She appreciated the loving care of her children and daughter-in-law, especially her caregiver and son Rick.

A step son Richard Cowen and a sister Irene Taylor preceded her in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to HPH Hospice of Hernando County at 12260 Cortez Blvd, FL 34613. 

Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 1290 Jefferson Ave. in Washington.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday August 2, 2017 in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church in Washington.  Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray.    A guestbook is available at www.deangelocare.com.
