Edwin J Navrotski

Edwin J. Navrotski, 89, of Eighty-Four, PA passed away Thursday July 14, 2016 in his home.

He was born January 10, 1927 in Canonsburg the son of Frank and Veronica Pietrociez Navroitski.

Mr. Navrotski, a veteran of WWII, served in the United States Army in the Asian Pacific Theater.  He received the Asian Pacific Theater Ribbon, the WWII Victory Ribbon and the Army Occupation Medal.   As he was inducted before finishing high school, in 2002 he returned to Canon McMillan HS and received his diploma with forty-one other WWII veterans.

Mr. Navrotski was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Polish National Catholic Church in Canonsburg and the son of one of the church’s original organizers.  During his membership of Sacred Heart, he was a choir member and twenty- year plus parish president.  His faith and church were of utmost importance to him.  Mr. Navrotski was a member of the Polish National Union/Spojnia, and served as Branch 116 secretary and then District 5 Director.  He was also a member of the VFW in Slovan and the American Legion in Houston.

He was an avid bowler and dart-ball player and a member of Toastmasters International.  He was a member of the White Eagles and the Polish Club in Canonsburg where he would play Euchere.

Surviving are eight children Gary (Sarah) Navrotski of Naperville, IL, Darlette Navrotski of Upper St. Clair, Michelle (Mark) Kuehner of Elizabeth, Zane Navrotski of Destin, FL, Terri (Bruce) Hartung of Oceanside, CA, Karen (Jim) Owens of Lancaster, PA, Tom Silko of VT, and Kristy (Trent) Hillis of OH.

Also surviving a brother Norman (Marilyn) Navrotski of McMurray, seven grandchildren Alex (Beth) Navrotski, Emily Navrotski, Jessica Hartung, Andrew Hartung, Nicholas Hillis, Brandon Hillis and Haley Kuehner. 

He was preceded in death by his first wife Cecelia Bober, his second wife Florence Kuma (Silko), a brother Walter “Vug” Navrotski and a sister Harriett McMurray.

Friends will be received from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 194 East College Street, Canonsburg.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday July 19, 2016 at Sacred Heart of Jesus PNCC in Canonsburg with Father Senior Rick Seiler, Jr. and Father Mark Swoger as Celebrants.  Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.  Full military rites will be accorded by the US Army and the VFW Post # 191.  In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus PNCC building fund.
