Frank DeGennaro

April 12, 1921 ~ June 5, 2017 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Frank DeGennaro, 96, of Canonsburg died Monday June 5, 2017 in 

Townview Health and Rehabilitation Center in Canonsburg.

He was born April 12, 1921 in Canonsburg the son of Nunzio and Angelina Tucci DeGennaro.

He attended Canonsburg schools during his youth.

He was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Upper St. Claire.

He was a member of the VFW Post 191 in Canonsburg and the American Legion Post 902 in Houston. 

Mr. DeGennaro enjoyed working in his yard and garden and was an avid cook.  Most of all, he enjoyed being with family and friends. 

He was a decorated veteran of WWII having received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.  During his military enlistment he served in combat in the Pacific Theater as a sergeant in the 11th Airborne Division.  He served in Luzon, Leyte Gulf and New Guinea.

On October 12, 1947 in Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, he married Lillian Provence who survives.

Surviving are two sons Frank J. (Patti) DeGennaro of McMurray and Mark S. DeGennaro of Vienna, WV.  Also surviving are two granddaughters Jenna and Emily DeGennaro of Tridelphia, WV and many nieces and nephews.

Surviving are two sisters-in-law Mary Jane DeGennaro of  Suderton and Gerraldine DeGennaro of Canonsburg.

He was preceded in death by four sisters Assunta Vittorio, Jennie Lanza, Mary Putorti, and Nancy Lanzy and seven brothers Nick, Angelo, James, Joseph, Michael, Anthony and Albert DeGennaro.

Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Thursday in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 194 East College Street in Canonsburg.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday June 9, 2017 in DeAngelo Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens in McMurray.   Full Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Army and the VFW Post 191 Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mission to Haiti, PO Box 523157, Miami, FL 33152-3157 or to Salvation Army, or to a charity of one’s choice.
