“Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother”
Marie Natale, 97, of Canonsburg passed away following a brief illness Friday October 27, 2017 with her loving family by her side.
The love of her family telling her “it’s okay Gram, we’ll be okay" brought her a sense of peace. She had to hear those words before she left her family.
Her home was always the gathering place for family and friends. On Sundays her immediate family would be in her home watching TV and filling up on delicious pasta and chicken. Always one to be conscious of her appearance, she was often seen by her family looking in the mirror making sure that everything was just right.
She was born November 2, 1919 in Canonsburg the daughter of the late Daniel and Julia DePaulo (Powell) Devitis, Sr.
She was Roman Catholic and a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg.
Mrs. Natale was employed for many years as a waitress at Mt. Lebanon Golf Club and then Valley Brook Country Club in Peters Township. She was also employed at Apollo Grocery in East Canonsburg for several years.
On November 20, 1937 in St. Patrick Church in Canonsburg, she married Louis R. Natale who passed away in 2002.
Surviving is a daughter Darlene Ambrose of Canonsburg, a sister Viola Cerenzia, and three sisters in law Mary DeVitis of Canonsburg, Anna Laskosky of Canonsburg and Geraldine Green of Canonsburg.
Also surviving are six Grandchildren Heather and Jared Ambrose, Robert Moody, Brian Moody, Diane (Timothy) Moody Smith, Brenda (Rick) Moody Rectenwald and five great grandchildren Zachary Rectenwald, Alison Rectenwald, Casey Rectenwald, Madyson Marie Smith and Emma Lou Smith.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Mary Lou Moody, two sons in law Robert E. Moody, Jr. and Dennis A. Ambrose, Sisters Carmel (James) Malone, Ann (John) Andresh, step sister Yvonne Devitis and Brothers Peter (first wife Bessie Shores) DeVitis, John (Mary) Devitis and Daniel DeVitis and her step-mother Catherine Marra.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 194 East College St. in Canonsburg. Departing prayers will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday October 31, 2017 in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Peters Township.
In Lieu of flowers the family suggests that all do something kind for an elderly neighbor in her memory.
