Adele Selvaggi Houston, 82, of Zanesville, OH, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024.
She was born April 2, 1941, in Washington, PA, the daughter of the late Floyd and Angeline LaCava Selvaggi.
Bobbie Brooks Clothing Company employed her as a seamstress.
She enjoyed reading and collecting books and had amassed over seventeen thousand books over the years. She also enjoyed keeping in touch with friends and family on Facebook. She loved spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren.
On February 18, 1958, she married her loving husband Charles H. Houston, Jr., who resides in Zanesville.
She was the proud mother of four children: Denise (David) Yocum of Zanesville, Toni Gordon of Harrisburg, the late Sherri Sorrels, and Lisa Houston of Zanesville.
Adele was the grandmother of the late David “DJ” Yocum and surviving grandchildren: Megan (Kaleb) Wiseman, Cassie (Russell) Rabadeau, Tyler (Emma) Sorrels, and Nicole (Justin) Holbert.
Surviving is her sister Gloria Santavicca of Florida. She enjoyed a great friendship with her late brother-in-law, Dr. Flavian Santavicca, Jr.
Also surviving are six great-grandchildren: Lydia and “Expected Baby” Wiseman, Brynn and Emma Rabadeau, and Carter and Carolynn Holbert; her nephew Dr. David (Theckla) Santavicca and her niece Darcie (Jeramy) Pritchett both of Florida.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2024, in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 1290 Jefferson Avenue in Washington. A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 29, 2024. Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Peters Township.
A Celebration of Life in Zanesville, OH, will be announced at a later date.
