Bernard C. Porto, 82, of Washington passed away Sunday October 1, 2017 in Donnell House in Washington.

He was born August 1, 1935 in Washington the eldest son of Pasquale and Louise Veltri Porto.

A graduate of Washington High School, he played football and wrestled on the high school team graduating in 1953.  Following high school he attended Ohio State University and studied automotive engineering.  He then studied Graphic Design at the Art Institute of Los Angeles from where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He had a lifelong interest in sports and coached wrestling at the Brownson House in Washington.  He also coached football for Logpile/Lagonda and Immaculate Conception midget football.  Due to his sports involvement in the community he was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sportsman’s Hall of Fame.

He was an avid Steelers fan, Pirates fan and followed many sports.

Mr. Porto was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Washington. 

He was a self employed Graphic Designer and owner of Creative Graphics for more than forty years.

On August 27, 1960 in St. Hilary Church in Washington he married Camille T. Alexander who survives.

Surviving are his three children Gina (Alan) Kick of Gardner, MA; Mark (Laura) Porto of Washington and Cindy (Jeff) Grant of Canonsburg.

Also surviving are five grandchildren Ashley Kick, Matthew and Kelly Porto and Avery and Lydia Grant.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Gerald (Jerry) Porto. 

Visitation will be held in private.  All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday October 4, 2017 in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Washington.  Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Peters Township.
