Edward Drezewski

Edward Drezewski, 87, of Washington passed away Monday, January 2, 2017, in Washington Health System.

He was born February 16, 1929, in Washington, the son of Marcel and Stella Kozlowski Drezewski.  He was the last of his immediate family.

He attended Wylie Avenue School and then Trinity High School in Washington.

He enjoyed watching baseball games, listening to polka music and taking car trips.

He also enjoyed an extended tour of Poland, the country of his ancestors, and had a special skill for foreign languages.

Mr. Drezewski retired early from Tri-State Engineering and then purchased several rental properties throughout the Washington area. He took pride and pleasure in maintaining and managing them. 

He was a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church in Washington.

He also was a member of the Slovak Club, and a past treasurer and director.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews: Rebecca Kuzy, Andrew (Colleen) Kuzy, Juliette (Rick) Freeman, Kathleen (Ralph) Amos, Marcy (Paul) Burke, Marcia (Stefano Coledan) Dunn, Mark Dunn and Bruce (Patty) Dunn.  Also surviving are a brother-in-law, Elmer Dunn, and cousins Jill (Randall) Moon, Frances Tock and Barbara Lutz.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Frances (Frank) Kuzy, Carolyn (Edward) Pyshko, Marcella Dunn; a brother, Stanley Drezewski; an aunt who was raised along with the family, Janet Zikevich; and his special friend Helen Kobrish.

Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 1290 Jefferson Ave. in Washington.  Departing prayers will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Saturday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017, at St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church in Washington with Rev. Thomas D. O’Neil as celebrant.

Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Hilary Church at 320 Henderson Ave. Washington, PA 15301.
