Erma Jean Heiser, 81, of Canonsburg passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday December 7, 2017.
She was born October 7, 1936 in Canonsburg the youngest daughter of Mariano and Domenicuccia D’Amico Scarsellato.
Mrs. Heiser was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg all of her life.
She was a Canon-McMillan School teacher. Her career at Canons-McMillan started in 1959 as a business school teacher at the high school. During her career, she also taught geography and history and keyboarding in the middle school, retiring in 2002.
The most important things in her life were her family. She loved everyone and was a big help and support to everyone. She especially loved cooking for them on Sunday. Everything she cooked was delicious, especially her gnocchi. Whether it be family gatherings, making Sunday meals with her husband, she did it with love.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
On July 25, 1964 she married John J. Heiser, her husband of fifty-three years, who survives. She was the loving mother of Paul Heiser of Tucson, AZ, Leah (Alexander) Drain of Canonsburg, Daryl (Michelle) Heiser of Washington, Richard (Janeth Smith) Heiser of Canonsburg. She was also a loving grandmother to Nikoli Heiser, Viktoria Heiser, Sarah Drain, Alex Drain, Madeline Heiser, Jack Heiser and Benjamin Heiser. Also surviving are sisters Marie Rybacki of Canonsburg and Elizabeth Jawelak of Upper St. Clair and Many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Deceased are four brothers; Sabastian Scarsellato, Vincent Scarsellato, Capt. Frank Scarsellato and John Scarsellato, MD and two sisters Guilda Labutis, and Florence Matyuf.i
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Sunday and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 194 East College Street in Canonsburg.
Departing Prayers will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday December 12, 2017 in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Patrick School.
