John Lee Smeyres

     John Lee Smeyres, 65, originally of Homestead, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2019, with his daughters by his side. 
     John was born on March 8, 1953 the son of John Jack and Betty Kepple Smeyres in West Penn Hospital. He graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School in 1971. Mr. Smeyres was retired but worked as an Access driver for Laidlaw Transportation for most of his adult life. Besides his knowledge of Pittsburgh history, John enjoyed sharing his love of music with others. His favorite pastimes included collecting angels and trolley memorabilia and making those around him happy. He was a member of Senior Life in Washington for the past few years.
    John is survived by his daughters, Kelly Smeyres of Canonsburg, with whom he resided, and Lisanna Lee Berger of Glassport, brothers, Mike (Connie) of Escondido, CA, and Bob (Diane) of Homestead, and grandchildren, James and Tyler O'Donnell, Charisma Venters, and Lily and Autumn Berger. His niece, Krystal, nephews, Germain (Athena) and RJ, and great-niece and great-nephew, Stella and Rocco, were always in his heart. 
    Mr. Smeyres was preceded in death by his parents, John (Jack) Smeyres and Betty Kepple Smeyres, and niece, Nicole Smeyres.

     Friends will be received 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home located on 194 East College Street in Canonsburg. A memorial service will be held immediately following the visitation at 3:00 with Dr. Rev. Debra Rogosky officiating.
