Loving Mother and Grandmother
Mary P. Berti, 95, of Houston passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh with her loving family by her side.
She was born October 15, 1922 in Canonsburg the daughter of Leonard and Michelina DiGiacomo Prencipe.
Mrs. Berti was a life long member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg where she was active in the Christian Mothers of the church and the Catholic Daughters of America.
She was a graduate of Canonsburg High School Class of 1941.
She loved to read, cook and bake and was an avid sports fan of the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates.
She enjoyed visits from her children and grandchildren and loved spending time with her cat “Sootsie”.
Mrs. Berti was a member of the TOPS organization in Canonsburg and enjoyed traveling to various destinations throughout the country.
Commercial Credit Bureau in Washington employed her as a collection supervisor.
On March 18, 1945 in St. Patrick Church in Canonsburg, she married Steven E. Berti who passed away in 1985.
Surviving are a son Steven E. (Robin) Berti, Jr. of Eighty-Four and a daughter Michelle B. (Thomas Williams) Conner of Aiken, SC; and eight grandchildren Shannon and Shelby Berti, Tami, Mary, Pauline, Charles, William and Grace Conner.
Also surviving are four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Surviving are two sisters Josephine Liberatore of Canonsburg and Philomena Chuey of Houston.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson Paul Conner and a brother Leonard Prencipe.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 194 East College St. in Canonsburg. Departing Prayers will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday April 25, 2018 in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church at 317 West Pike Street in Canonsburg. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
