Victor W. Duchess

Lifetime member of American Dairy Goat Association  

Victor W. Duchess, 84, of Amwell Township, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017, in Donnell House, Washington.

He was born December 20, 1932, in Cuddy, a son of the late Victor and Nellie Nadeja Duchess.

Mr. Duchess was a 1951 graduate of South Fayette High School.

Following high school, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War occupation in Germany. During his military service he earned the Army of Occupation Medal, Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. 

For more than 40 years, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator and continued to be a member of Teamsters Operators Engineers Local 66. Most of those years, he was employed by Russells Industries in Bridgeville, retiring in 1995.

He was a lifetime member of the American Dairy Goat Association.

Mr. Duchess was Catholic.

He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 586 in Cuddy. 

Mr. Duchess enjoyed hunting and spending time with his friends drinking coffee at McDonald’s and spending time at “Mike’s Feed Store and Senior Daycare” with his friends and companions.

On April 12, 1958, in Winchester, Va., he married Karen J. Fehl, with whom he recently celebrated 59 years of marriage.

Surviving are three children, Barbara M. McClure of Fallowfield Township, David A. Duchess of Washington and Valerie A. (Andrew) Chappo of Canonsburg; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Joel) Gildea, Jessica (Andrew) Archer, Jared (Christy) McClure, Jillian McClure, Skyler and McKenna Duchess and Cassandra Chappo; and several great-grandchildren.

Surviving are two sisters, Rosella Knuth of Finleyville and Arlene Duchess of Presto, and several nieces and nephews. 

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington, where departing prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, October 2, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Washington. Interment will follow in St. Agatha Cemetery, South Fayette Township. Full military honors will be accorded by U.S. Army and American Legion Post 175 of Washington.
