Alfonso A. Fortunato, 89, of Houston passed away Friday December 30, 2022.
He was born July 30, 1933 in Polina, Italy a son of the late Frank and Matilda Ratenni Fortunato.
Mr. Fortunato was a member of Bethlem Lutheran Church in Scenery Hill.
He loved sports and was a member of the American Legion.
Fort Pitt Bridge Works in Canonsburg employed him as a Fitter for 28 years until his retirement.
On June 26, 1976 in Washington, he married Freda M. Kelley who resides in Houston.
Surviving are a daughter Debbie Fortunato Czernecki of Scott Township and three step-sons Jim, Reckner of Missouri, John Reckner of Richeyville, and Donald “Cub” Reckner also of Missouri.
Also surviving is a brother Anthony Fortunato of Canonsburg and a sister Margaret Alderson of Canonsburg; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Virginia Remailey Fortunato, children Frank, Allen, Cheryl, and James Fortunato and brothers Frank and Domenick Fortunato.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday January 4, 2023 in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 194 East College Street in Canonsburg followed immediately by a funeral service to be held at 8:00 Wednesday in the Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Gibson officiating.
Interment will be held at a later date.
