Algena Marie (Schell) Strauss

Algena Marie Strauss (81) of Washington, PA passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. 

“Jeannie” is beloved by her family and community. She always had an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on. She was a kind soul with a great sense of humor and wise counsel and she will be dearly missed.

In her down time, she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crocheting and her iPad games. 

She is the daughter of (late) James F. Schell Jr. and (late) Algena P. Schell.

Sister of (late) Jacqueline Robertson of Canonsburg, PA and (late) James F. Schell III of Hookstown, PA. 

Algena is the wife of (late) Edward J. Strauss of Canonsburg, PA.

She is survived by her partner of 16 yrs, Bill Bitonti and her cat Frankie, as well as her children, (late) Kenneth Ewing, Scharyl Williams, Steven (Lynne) Ewing, Mary Brosovich and Joseph Ewing. Her stepchildren, James (Betty) McQuillan, Dana (Delmer) Rucker, Suzann Neff and Joseph Strauss.

Also surviving are her Grandchildren Tanisha House, Janeyl (Fred) Miller, Tuesday Wheeler, Corinne (Robert) Lea, Clyde (Emily) Dunfee, (late) Jesse Dunfee, Richard Dunfee III, Alex (Carrie) Dunfee, Joe (Lyndee) Ewing, Nikki (James) Paiano, Scott Ewing, Aaron Ewing and 26 great grandchildren.

At the request of family, there will be no public visitation and all arrangements are private.
