Arthur A. Byers, Sr., 83, of Washington went home to be with the Lord on Sunday October 28, 2018.
He was born in Washington and raised in West Middletown, the son of the late Roe and Viola Porter Byers.
He was Independent Baptist by faith.
He loved to sing and played the harmonica and guitar.
He read and studied the Bible and was a great example of what a Christian should be.
He enjoyed spending time with family, and loved to have his children and grandchildren around him, and always enjoyed a good game of kickball and softball. His yard was well known in the neighborhood as the local playground and all children were welcome.
ALCOA Steel in Cleveland, Ohio employed him as a steel worker for many years.
His wife Ethel M. Rogers preceded him in death on April 28, 2006.
Surviving are his daughter Christine M. (Cy) Young of Cleveland, OH and a son Arthur A. Byers, Jr. of Washington. Also surviving are three brothers Bernard Byers of Cleveland, OH, John Byers of Washington and Russell (Joyce) Byers of Elyria, OH, three grandchildren Justin Byers, Joseph Byers, and Ryan Young and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his wife is a son Raymond Byers and many brothers and sisters.
A memorial gathering will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 1290 Jefferson Avenue in Washington, PA.
A celebration of Life will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m. Friday November 2, 2018 in the funeral home.
