Betty Lucille Noble Amos, 94, of Washington died Saturday February 14, 2015 in Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care in Washington.
She was born June 3, 1920 in Beallsville, PA the daughter of Levi Craft and Alberta Leigh Jordan Noble.
She was a graduate of Beallsville High School in 1939 and then continued her education at Washington Hospital School of Nursing and California University of Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Amos taught student nursing at Washington Hospital School of Nursing for thirty years. She was a member of Washington Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Beallsville prior to joining First Presbyterian Church in Washington in 1942 where she taught Sunday school. She wrote “I loved all human beings, all animals, and all plants”.
Mrs. Amos enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting afghans. She had fun shoveling snow, gardening, playing ball with her sons, reading and playing the organ.
On May 9, 1946 she married Ralph Myers Amos who died June 4, 1993.
Surviving are three sons Ralph Leland (Kathleen) Amos of Washington, Larry Keith (Dawn) Amos of Palatine, IL and Gary Lynn (Linda) Amos of Lenoir, NC and one brother Robert Noble of Nashville, TN. Also surviving are seven grandchildren Michael Amos, Kevin Amos, Chad Amos, Jeffrey Amos, Scott Amos, Aaron Sullivan and Tracy Cruz, and eleven great grandchildren Corinne Amos, Ethan Amos, Kylie Amos, Cale Amos, Emma Amos, Adelyn Amos, Brock Sullivan, Tripp Sullivan, Mikayla Saul, Slavadore Cruz, Sophia Cruz and one on the way and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five brothers Joseph Rodney Noble, Levi Deane Noble, Clarence Noble, Linton Noble, and Eugene Noble and five sisters Mary Kahl, Lenora Braden, Norma June Noble, Bernice Noble and Phyllis Noble.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 1290 Jefferson Ave. in Washington where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday February 18, 2015 with Dr. L. Stephen Smith Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in The Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
