Carol Monaghan Obituary

Carol Virginia Monaghan

Carol Virginia Monaghan, age 78, of Cecil, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, July 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 13, 1947, in Canton, Ohio, Carol was the daughter of the late George A. Bogard, Sr. and the late Edna Virginia Stacy Riley. A graduate of South Fayette High School, Carol dedicated much of her professional life to Canonsburg Hospital, where she served as an Admissions Specialist until her retirement.

Carol’s life was marked by an unwavering love for her family, her friends, and her faith. She is survived by her two sons, Kevin M. (Christina) Monaghan of North Strabane and Kenneth M. (Karla Keyes) Monaghan, Sr. of Cecil, as well as her three treasured grandchildren, McKenzie T. (Shane) Monaghan Gezzi of Cecil, Ambrie Monaghan of Denver, CO, and Kenneth Monaghan Jr., proudly serving in the United States Marine Corps.

She is also survived by her brother, Norman (Elise) Bogard of Wintersville, OH; twin half-sisters, Sharon (David) Crane of Wintersville, OH, and Karin (Brian) Keenan of Mingo Junction, OH; stepsisters, Kathy (Patrick) Dugan of Wintersville, OH, and Patricia (Larry) O’Malley of Piperton, TN; and stepbrother, David (Richelle) Riley of Cedar Rapids, IA. Her legacy continues through many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dennis L. Monaghan; her brother, George A. Bogard, Jr.; her stepsister, Robin Moran; her daughter in law, Roxanne Monaghan; and her niece, Jennifer DeCarlo.

A woman of creativity, and quiet strength, Carol found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid reader and a gifted artisan who poured love into every quilt she stitched, every meal she prepared, and every birthday card or letter she penned in her beautiful calligraphy. Her warm presence and loving heart left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Above all, Carol’s deep and abiding faith in the Lord Jesus was the foundation of her life. She lived each day with humility, gratitude, and kindness, inspiring those around her with her gentle spirit and steadfast devotion.

A private interment was held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Friday, July 11, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date, where loved ones will gather to honor the beautiful life and legacy of Carol Virginia Monaghan.
