David F. Opfer, 79, of Washington passed away Saturday March 23, 2024 in Woodside Place in Washington.
He was born May 11, 1944 in McKeesport a son of the late Raymond and Elizabeth Morton Opfer.
David enjoyed working on cars, watching Steelers and Pirates and gardening.
David was a volunteer fireman for Forward Township Fire Department.
US Steel Company employed him as a steel worker for more than 30 years.
On June 15, 1965 in Clairton, he married Dorothy Herchelroth who preceded him in death.
Surviving are a son David (Chris) Opfer of Houston and a daughter Stacey (Walt) Gesky of South Strabane Township. Also surviving are four grandchildren DJ Opfer, Ethan Opfer, Ryan Opfer and Dylan Gesky and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers Terry Opfer and Gene Opfer
All arrangements are private. Burial will be held in Round Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth, PA.
