Edith Estelle Cummings, 92, of Washington went to be with the Lord Thursday October 8 2015 in Townview Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born November 10, 1922 in Turtle Creek the daughter of Robert Edward and Mabel Boyle Gailey.
She was a graduate of Turtle Creek High School.
She enjoyed sewing and baking and sharing her hot apple pies, sticky buns, cookies and home baked bread with family and friends.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Meadowlands and their Christian Mothers.
During her later years, her family appreciated the care she received by the staff at Senior Life in Washington and especially the second floor staff at Townview Health and Rehabilitation Center in Canonsburg.
On May 4, 1941 in St. Coleman’s Church she married John Patrick Cummings who died March 28, 1988.
Surviving are two daughters Diane (Anthony) Mohan of Cordova, MD, Kathleen Cummings of Washington and four sons John R. (Stephanie K.) Cummings of Noblesville, IN, Brian T. (Maureen E.) Cummings of Dallas, TX, Dennis P. (Annamarie C.) Cummings of Pittsburgh and Jeffrey A. (Laura E.) Cummings of Nineveh, IN.
Also surviving are eighteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the last of her immediate family and was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Gailey, and four brothers Robert Gailey, Wallace Gailey, Richard Gailey and Walter Gailey.
Friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 1290 Jefferson Ave. in Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday October 12, 2015 in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Meadowlands. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray.
