Emilia D'Amico Obituary

Emilia (Amy) D’Amico

Amy D’Amico age 61 joined our dear Lord on Thursday, March 18, 2021 after a brief illness, which she fought valiantly.  She was born in Canonsburg, PA on May 15, 1959, the daughter of the late Domenick and Laberta (DiFlauro) D’Amico.

Amy was a 1977 graduate of Canon McMillan HIgh School and obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in elementary education from Duquesne University.   Her career included working at several local educational institutions. She loved teaching  young children and they loved “Miss Amy” . She inspired many and especially enjoyed working with the underprivileged children in Washington County.

When anyone met Amy they quickly knew they had a friend for life. Her friends and family will remember Amy for her kind, compassionate manner and her sense of humor as she was always the “life of the party”.   Amy was a great event planner and was certain that no detail was overlooked.   She was a very talented and creative person and she loved making gifts for her friends and students.  She enjoyed arranging flowers, gardening, playing cards, and word games.

She is survived by a sister Christine, brother Alfonso (Cindy) D’Amico, Uncle Raymond DiFlauro of Hesperia, California and numerous cousins and friends and her beloved dogs Maxine and Rocco.

Family and friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Saturday and from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at MARIO L. DeANGELO FUNERAL HOME, at 194 East College Street in Canonsburg with a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 22 at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the CASA for Children at https://www.casawashington.org  or Washington City Mission at www.citymission.org
