Ennio DelVecchio Obituary

Ennio F. DelVecchio, 101, passed away Friday August 23, 2024 in St. Clair Hospital.

Love and care of his family was most important to Ennio.

He was born February 16, 1923 in Pietransieri in L’ Aquila, Italy, a son of the late Antonio and Elvira DiBattista DelVecchio.

During his youth in Italy, he served in the Italian Army and witnessed the destruction of his home town.

At the age of twenty-five he emigrated to the United States and settled in Muse, PA with his parents.  He came to the United States for the opportunity of the American Dream, to make a place for his wife and eldest son.

Ennio was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Muse.

He was a member of the Muse Independent Club in Muse, and the Washington County ITAM.

Mr. DelVecchio enjoyed bowling, gardening, and like any Italian man who embraced his heritage, making homemade wine.

Mr. DelVecchio was employed as an electrician by Pennsylvania Transformer for thirty-four years.

On April 21, 1948 in Pietransieri, Italy, he married Vilma DiGregorio who passed away December 30, 2011.

Surviving are three children, Piero DelVecchio of Muse, Joyce (John) Bobby of South Fayette and Joe (Carol) DelVecchio of Wexford; three grandchildren Sarah (Owen Russell) Bobby, Rachel (Pierce) Dever, and Karen (Nicolas Kwatnoski) DelVecchio.  Four great grandchildren Brooks, Tripp, and Collins Dever and Ellen P. Kwatnoski, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother Lelio DelVecchio, two sisters Emilia Lucrezi and Arduina Amorosi, and daughter-in-law Patricia DelVecchio.

Friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 Friday September 6, 2024 in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 194 East College Street in Canonsburg.  A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 Saturday September 7, 2024 in Holy Rosary Church in Muse with Father George DeVille as celebrant.  Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven, Notre Dame Mausoleum.
