Enzo Renato Tristani, 93, of Rennerdale, and formerly a long-time resident of Muse, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024.
Enzo was born in Pietransieri, Italy in the Abruzzo region, on March 13, 1930 to Ernesto and Maria DelVecchio Tristani. On February 28, 1954, in Italy, he married the love of his life, Elisa Falcone. The two of them emigrated to America and shared 51 years of marriage before Elisa’s passing on September 3, 2005.
As a faithful member of Holy Rosary Church, St. Oscar Romero Parish, Enzo attended mass regularly until his health would not permit.
Starting out he worked as a painter, brick layer, and general laborer. Enzo retired as a large finisher from Cooper Industries in Canonsburg with 35 years of service.
Always embracing his Italian heritage, Enzo, an avid gardener, enjoyed starting his own plants, especially tomatoes, peppers and beans, as well as lettuces, herbs, and various greens from the old country. He was especially fond of growing garlic and onions and sharing his bounty. Of course, he would always collect and save seeds for the coming year. Along with gardening, Enzo excelled in making wine and curing Italian meats such as prosciutto, sausages, salami, and capicola. He also enjoyed hunting, gathering mushrooms, and of course--chestnuts! In his early years, Enzo enjoyed the company of his friends at the Muse Italian Club, where he was a long-time member. In his later years he was an avid fan of the Italian channel on television. Enzo also used his master storytelling skills to recount his life journey to family and friends.
Enzo was blessed to survive the Limmari Massacre of Pietransieri in 1943, where 122 people were killed in his small village, including his mother and grandmother. Enzo was able to share his story on the local news and this was a very memorable experience for him.
