Eva Chupinsky Obituary

Eva Chupinsky, 96, of Washington PA passed away peacefully on Monday January 27, 2025 at Hawthorne Woods Assisted Living.

She was born May 14, 1928 in Washington, PA, the eldest child of the late Stephan and Mary Kopcha Petronka (Immigrants from Europe).

Eva graduated from Washington High School in 1945 and was very instrumental in coordinating the class reunions for many years after.

Upon graduation, she worked for White Haines Optical company and the Teichman family.

Eva married the love of her life, and devoted wife to Dr. John Chupinsky on July 15, 1951 in St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church before Fr. Nicholas Fedetz, celebrating seventy-three years of marriage.  She assisted Dr. John side-by-side as office manager at their dental office at the Trust Building until retirement in 1987.

Eva enjoyed many activities; painting, traveling, playing the Balalaika, having the opportunity to play on Heinz Hall Pittsburgh stage.  Eva was a lifelong faithful member of St. John’s Orthodox Church.  A committee member who taught Sunday School and served on the Altar Society, coordinating bake sales, church merchandise and so much more.

More than anything, Eva was loved and loved all of her family and friends.  She was our thread to all in so many ways. Eva was there if you needed her.  She never missed a birthday, anniversary or phone call. She was our “Angel”.

She is survived by her husband Dr. John Chupinsky, only sister Olga Povich of Houston, PA and younger brother Nick Petronka of Washington.  Also surviving is two sisters-in-law Irene McCullough of Erie, PA, Geri Petronks of Washington, PA  and a brother-in-law Dan Chupinsky of Toledo, OH and twenty-three nieces and nephews.
