Helen A. Skiviat

Helen A. Jochynek Skiviat, 90, of Washington passed away Monday October 19, 2015 in Strabane Woods in Washington.

She was born February 15, 1925 in Washington the daughter of Paul and Anna Jochynek.

For twelve years she worked for Lang’s Department Store.  She was also employed by the George Washington Hotel.

Mrs. Skiviat was a long time member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church in Washington.  She was also a member of the Pulaski Club Women’s Auxiliary.  She loved to cook and bake and enjoyed making traditional polish foods.

On June 10, 1947 in St. Hilary Church she married Frank J. Skiviat who preceded her in death March 3, 2006.

Surviving are two daughters Carole (Steven) Sisul of Washington and Louise Skiviat of Washington and a son Robert (Shirley) Skiviat of Mt. Lebanon.

Also surviving are three grandsons Gregory Sisul,  Michael Sisul and Avery Skiviat.  She leaves behind her loving dog Peaches.

She was preceded in death by three brothers Stanley Jochynek, Joseph Jochynek and John “Jasper” Jochynek and two sisters Ann Hall and Violet Mrozek .  At the request of the family, there will be no public visitation.  All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday October 24, 2015 in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church at 320 Henderson Ave. Washington with Rev. Thomas D. O’Neil as Celebrant.  Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Hilary Church.  A guestbook is available at www.deangelocare.com.
