James DeAngelo Obituary

James Joseph Xavier DeAngelo, 23, of Venetia passed away Sunday July 4, 2021 as a result of a tragic accident. Born March 22, 1998 in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, he is the beloved son of Dr. James N. and Dr. Jean C. Gross DeAngelo who reside in Venetia. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving sister, Abrielle DeAngelo at home, and his paternal grandmother, Julia A. Jones DeAngelo of Canonsburg.  Also surviving are his aunts and uncles; Karen (Jim) Boni of Moon Township, Robert (Roxann) Gross of Allison Park, and Dale (Lesley) DeAngelo of Canonsburg, numerous cousins and an immense number of friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Mario L. DeAngelo and his maternal grandparents, Stephen and Dolores M. Zondorak Gross.

James was a 2012 graduate of St. Louise de Marillac School and a 2016 graduate of Peters Township High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and Business from California University of Pennsylvania from where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2020.

He was a faithful Roman Catholic and attended mass regularly at St. Louise de Marillac Church and St. Benedict the Abbot Church. James was a kind, considerate, caring and always helpful young man who enjoyed everything life had to offer. His passion was ice hockey; playing with the Peters Township Hockey Club, Rink Rats, Pittsburgh Predators, and the California University of PA Hockey Club. He also loved playing golf, snowboarding, skimboarding, baseball, any time he could spend on the beach, watching the Pens play, video games, driving and keeping close ties to his core group of friends. James enjoyed a long-term relationship with his cherished girlfriend, Lexie Rhoads who he planned to marry in the near future.  James was always up for the trip, outing or any event that came across his path, yet always ready to give his spot away to someone else so they wouldn’t be left out.

He enjoyed spending time with his dog “Mustang”, his precious companion.

Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday in the Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 194 East College Street in Canonsburg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday July 10, 2021 in St. Benedict the Abbott Church (St. John XXIII Parish) at 120 Abbington Drive, McMurray, PA 15317.  Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Peters Township.

A tribute wall is available at www.deangelocare.com.  The family suggests that Catholic masses be requested in his name.
