Joann Marriner, 85, of Washington (Canton Township) passed away unexpectedly on Thursday October 5, 2023.
She was born September 17, 1938 in Washington the daughter of the late George Sr. and Mary Kohler Pomykala.
Joann was a member of St. Hilary Church in Washington, where she was a member of Christian Mothers, and was also a devoted volunteer. She was an Usher and Eucharistic Minister, worked the parish fish fries, and volunteered at the Brownson House. She also volunteered at Holy Trinity Church making pierogies and various other church functions. She loved her nieces and nephews and attended many of their sporting events.
Mrs. Marriner was employed at Brockway Glass Company in Washington and then as a clerk at Washington Hospital.
On June 6, 1959 in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Meadowlands, she married Louis E. Marriner who survives.
Surviving is a brother John Pomykala, Sr., her nieces and nephews; Wayne and Chris Pomykala of CA, John Pomykala, Jr., Kimberly Thompson, Tracie Kern, Brian Pomykala, Renee Susko, Bradley Pomykala, and Tracy Turner. Also surviving are many great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew, and two sisters-in-law Arlene Pomykala and Rosemary Pomykala of CA.
She was preceded in death by two brothers George Pomykala, Jr. and Eugene Pomykala and two sisters-in-law Sue Ann Pomykala and Eleanor Turner.
At Joann’s request, there will be no public visitation. All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday October 11, 2023 in St. Hilary Church at 320 Henderson Avenue in Washington. Entombment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Peters Township.
