John E. Calvert, Sr.

John E. Calvert, 82, of Washington passed away Tuesday August 29, 2023 in Southmont Presbyterian Senior Care in Washington following a brief illness.

He was born December 18, 1940 in East Finley, a son of the late Amos Edgar and Della Mae Ashbrooke Calvert.

Mr. Calvert is survived by his wife Lorie Calvert who survives, whom he married on October 15, 1965 in Burgettstown.  Surviving is a son John E. (Denice) Calvert Jr., a brother Dale Calvert of Washington, three grandchildren; Ashley (Ian) Cushey, Meghan Calvert and Emily Calvert; and three great grandchildren, Ava, Emma and Grace Cushey and several nieces and nephews.  Also surviving are four additional grandchildren Alayna Ross, Aniah Maleski, Alysson Earlywine, and Derrick Lenzi.

He was preceded in death by two brothers William and Donald Calvert.

Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 1290 Jefferson Avenue in Washington.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Josh Brown officiating.  All other arrangements are private.
