John B. Salvini, 98, of Washington passed away Thursday September 17, 2015 in Washington Hospital.

He was born July 27, 1917 in Beadling, PA the son of Bartolo and Pierina Salvini.

Mr. Salvini was Catholic and a long time member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church in Washington where he was an active volunteer for many church functions.  He was a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Hilary Church.

He loved doing yard work.  During his youth he enjoyed hunting and Clay pigeon shooting.  He enjoyed taking his wife Rita out for drives and shopping.

He was the self-employed dairy farm owner of Salvini Farm in Mt. Pleasant Township from 1959 to 1990.  He also worked in utility excavation and construction with his sons.  He along with his late brother Angelo developed and constructed Salvini Plan in Scott Township.

On November 23, 1944 in St. Boniface Church in Pittsburgh, he married Rita C. Schwarzmeier who died January 1, 2015.  He and his wife had celebrated seventy years of marriage at the time of her passing.

Mr. Salvini was the loving father of a daughter Carol Ann (Charles) Gluch of Spring TX, and four sons John Robert (Marcia) Salvini of Library, Edward Silvio ((Paula) Salvini of Midway, Ronald Daniel (Shirley) Salvini of Washington and Michael Joseph (Barb) Salvini of Washington.  Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one sister Lucy Cicci and three brothers Angelo and Charles Salvini and a brother Silvio who died during infancy.

Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 1290 Jefferson Ave. in Washington.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday September 21, 2015 in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church in Washington with Rev. Thomas D. O’Neil as Celebrant.
