Joseph N. Ayre, Sr., 62, of Avella passed away Saturday February 22, 2025 following a lengthy illness that he fought courageously for several years.
He was born June 25, 1962 in Washington a son of the late Francis Neil Ayre and Helen “Connie” Seibel.
Joe liked to spend time with his grandchildren and go to their sporting events and other activities.
He liked all animals and loved to spend time with his dogs “Bentley” and “Winston” his grand-dog.
Joe liked to go fishing and hunting and passing the time sitting on his front porch waving to neighbors and friends as they drove by. He also enjoyed cooking, especially seafood, and watching cooking shows on TV.
Joe was a self employed hardwood flooring installer and owner of A & J Flooring. He would do work for Seman Flooring and R&D Construction.
Surviving is his wife Wendy Turner Ayre of Hopewell Township (Avella).
Also surviving are two children James (Dana) Gatewood of Avella and Cassandra Ayre of Avella; three grandchildren Hayden, Gavin, and Gracyn Gatewood; and two sisters Pam King and Heidi Stellavato and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Joseph Neil Ayre, Jr.
Friends will be received from 1:00 to 3:00 and 5:00 to 7:00 Thursday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 1290 Jefferson Avenue in Washington. Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. Thursday immediately following the Visitation. Interment will follow in North Buffalo Cemetery at a later date.
