Julia A. “Jubie” DeAngelo, 98, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully May 29, 2026, at McMurray Hills Manor.
Born July 20, 1927, in Canonsburg, she was the beloved daughter of James B. Jones and Julia A. Rifgon Jones. A 1945 graduate of Canonsburg High School, she moved to New York City to attend the Barbizon Modeling and Acting School before returning home to Canonsburg. She later met her future husband, Mario L. DeAngelo, while commuting by streetcar to Pittsburgh, where she worked as an executive secretary.
Mrs. DeAngelo helped manage the daily operations of Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home and, alongside her husband, supported Catholic Charities and many other charitable causes. She also volunteered for about 15 years at The Trading Post consignment shop in Mt. Lebanon. She will be remembered with love for her kindness, compassion, and deep devotion to her family.
Her beloved husband, Mario L. DeAngelo, whom she married on February 4, 1950, died on May 11, 2000. She is survived by her sons, James N. DeAngelo (Jean Gross-DeAngelo) of Venetia and Dale D. DeAngelo (Lesley DeAngelo) of Canonsburg; grandchildren Elizabeth DeAngelo (Sakima Neilson) of Canonsburg, Michael DeAngelo of Houston, Abrielle DeAngelo of Venetia, and Ann Marie DeAngelo of Canonsburg; great-grandson Daniel Jude Neilson; cousin Beverly Kostka; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by grandson James Joseph Xavier DeAngelo and brothers James B. Jones, David G. Jones, and Gerald F. Jones.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home, Inc., 194 East College Street, Canonsburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2026, at St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg.
