JUNE ELIZABETH BABKA
June Elizabeth (Peterka) Babka died at age 95-1/2 of natural causes on December 26, 2020 at St. Clair
hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. She was born on June 13, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio.
June is pre-deceased by her husband George Babka in 2012, and her son, Patrick Babka, in 2019.
From 2017 to present, June lived with her daughter Julie.
June was a bright light for her family and will be remembered lovingly.
June was adopted twice, survived the great Depression and World War II, worked In Illinois then married
in 1949 and raised eight children. She saw her two oldest children in the Air Force and the Navy. She
nurtured her children through school, college, and life. She has nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren
and one great-great grandchild spread across the country.
Her seven surviving children include Michael Babka (Marcy) of Eighty-Four, PA, Mary Mellott (Mike) of
Indianapolis, IN, George Babka (MaryAnn) of Byesville, OH, Christine Babka of Chambersburg, PA, David
Babka (Julia) of Martins Ferry, OH, Joseph Babka of Bridgeport, OH, and Julie Babka of Upper St.
Clair, PA.
June had a strong faith in God, devoted to Bible study, and was homemaker who organized holiday
and family reunions, or fun vacations for her visiting grandkids. She made quilts for the homeless,
stuffed animals for the grandkids, and baby items for hospital nurseries.,
June will be interred at a private ceremony in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville,
PA, next to her husband George, who was a WWII Navy veteran.
Donations may be made to the American Lung Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Arrangements for a live streaming blessing service will be announced when plans are complete.
