Kathryn L. D’Angelo, 82, of Canonsburg passed away on Tuesday November 24, 2015, in her home.
She was born June 8, 1933, in Washington the daughter of Leo and Lydia Edens Zumpetta.
Mrs. D’Angelo was Catholic.
For more than twenty years she worked at A & H Cotton Shop in Canonsburg.
She was fiercely devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She loved having all of them together for dinners, and holidays; and for probably 50 years she had a huge party on Christmas Eve for everybody. She was loving and loyal to many friends and was loved by many.
Mrs. D'Angelo was an avid collector of antiques and dolls. She loved all kinds of music, and she especially loved going out to hear her beloved husband Tony sing. She was also an avid reader, loved the movies and watching television. She loved shopping and buying for family and friends.
On February 12, 1954, she married Anthony F. D’Angelo, who passed away August 6, 2002. Surviving are five children: Karen D’Angelo of Canonsburg, Mark (Sandy) D’Angelo of Moon Township, Leslie D’Angelo of Canonsburg, Darren D’Angelo of Canonsburg, and Tom Merigo of Canonsburg. Also surviving are sisters Jacqueline (Joseph) Ball, Yvonne (John) Pivovarnik, Yvette Zumpetta, all of Ellsworth, and Cleo (Baltous) Sinko of Bentleyville, and brother-in-law Orlando Spina of Ocoee, FL. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Dia (George) Pihiou, Anna (Will) Menzer, Julian D’Angelo, David D’Angelo, Lauren D’Angelo, Darcy D’Angelo, Danielle D’Angelo, Isabella D’Angelo, James Merigo, Diana Merigo; great grandchildren Romelo and Brooklyn D’Angelo, Faith and William Menzer, and Tristan D'Angelo and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A son Anthony James D’Angelo died on September 11, 2003 and a great granddaughter Stella Jolie Pihiou died December 30, 2013.
Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. Monday in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 194 East College Street in Canonsburg where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday December 1, 2015 with Father George Livanos officiating. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery in Canonsburg.
