Kathryn Senich Podany, 98, of Washington and formerly of Monessen, passed away peacefully at Strabane Woods on October 4, 2024 with her loving family by her side.
She was beloved by all, especially her grandchildren and close friends who knew her as “Grandma Kay”.
Mrs. Podany was born May 20, 1926 in Monessen a daughter of Aftanas and Anna Sikula Senich.
Kathryn enjoyed painting, and as the matriarch of the family, enjoyed cooking for and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Podany was a member of St. John the Divine Orthodox Church in Monessen all of her life.
She was a member of the Mon Valley Art Club and a card club.
On November 2, 1947 in St. John the Divine Church in Monessen she married Harry S. Podany who preceded her in death on April 13, 2010.
Surviving are four children; Cathie A. (Mike) McCormick of McMurray, Gregory Podany of Chicago, IL, Douglas (Mary Celine) Podany of Canonsburg and Harry S. Podany of Hawaii.
Also surviving are six grandchildren; Michael J. (Kristina) McCormick, Allison (Adam) Quick, Christina Podany, Marissa (John Rice) Podany, Christopher Podany, and Ciro Podany; and seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson Mark McCormick, and her brothers and sisters; John Senich, Mary Dankanich, Andrew Senich, Michael Senich, Nicholas Senich, Paul Senich and Anna Kozma.
Friends will be received from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday October 11, 2024 in St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church at 601 Boone Avenue in Canonsburg. Funeral services will be held in the church at 11:00 a.m. Friday immediately following the viewing with Father John Kotalik.
Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
