Laurence Douglas Walden

Laurence “Larry Ldub” Douglas Walden, 59, of Washington passed away at 12:17 a.m. on Sunday July 20, 2025 in his home.

He was born April 7, 1966 in Washington, a son of the late Laurence Douglas McCarrell and Hannah Louise “Granny” Walden.

“Skeetdog”, as he was well known among friends, enjoyed working with his hands, whether on computers, with tools or working as a handyman.  He also enjoyed cooking “yard-bird”, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren Nia and Ian, II. 

Surviving is his only child Amber Nicole Walden whom he was best friends with, and her confidante.  She was his caregiver and he her “Rock”.

Also surviving are his brother and sister Paul W. Walden of Masontown, his children; and Tawanda L. Wimbley (Jones), her husband Brian and their children, of Houston, TX.  Also surviving is a sister-in-law Marie Walden who was a great support for he and Amber during his final months and in his finest hour.  The mother of his daughter Sharon Ray Riggs survives, his Aunt Latricia Mae Catlin of Washington, uncles James D. “Squeakie” (Anita) Walden of Washington, Melvin L. “Brother” Walden of Washington, William E. “Pook” Walden of Washington, and numerous cousins and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Minerva Marie Walden, his brother Carl N. Walden who is survived by five children, aunts Rose M. Walden, Linda A. Walden and uncle John J. Walden, Sr.

Friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.  Tuesday July 29, 2025 in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 1290 Jefferson Avenue in Washington.  A funeral service will be held immediately after the viewing at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home.  In Lieu of flowers, please make donations directly to the funeral home to help family.
