Louis R. Liberatore

“ Devoted family man and lifelong resident of Canonsburg”

Louis R. Liberatore, 92, of Canonsburg passed away Wednesday December 16, 2015 in Canonsburg Hospital.

He was born September 19, 1923 in Canonsburg the son of Daniel and Angeline Cheverine Liberatore.

Mr. Liberatore was a veteran of WWII having served in the United States Marine Corps from 1944 to 1947.  During his military enlistment, he served for two years in the Asiatic Pacific.  He was cited for his honest and faithful service and earned the Good Conduct medal during his military service.  He was a member of the VFW Post #191 in Canonsburg.

Mr. Liberatore loved music of the 1940’s and loved to sing.  During a USO tour for he and his fellow marines he was coaxed to come up on the stage and sing.  He loved to walk and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Washington Steel employed him at their Washington Plant for forty years.

On November 22, 1947 in St. Patrick Church in Canonsburg, he married Lena “Linda” Palilla who passed away October 14, 2013.

Surviving are three sons Ralph (Wendie) Liberatore of Cecil, Charles (Julie) Liberatore of Washington and Daniel (Tracie) Liberatore of Canonsburg, a brother Perry Liberatore of Daytona FL, and two sisters Stella (Jay) Power of Canonsburg and Antoinette Lucas of Canonsburg and three sister-in-laws Toni Liberatore, Josephine Liberatore and Mary Rose Liberatore.

Also surviving are five grandchildren Tami (Bill) Demascal, Christopher (Brianna) Liberatore, Allie Liberatore, Tyler Liberatore and Louie Liberatore and three great grandchildren Will Demascal, Ben Demascal and Josh Demascal and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers Tony, Falco and James Liberatore and a sister Madeline Rinaldi.

Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. Sunday in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 194 East College Street in Canonsburg.  Departing prayers will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Monday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday December 21, 2015 in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery where a full military rite will be accorded by the United States Marine Corps and the VFW Post #191 Honor Guard.  A guestbook is available at www.deangelocare.com.
