M. Evelyn Patten Anderson, 93, of Washington passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday December 8, 2021.
She was born February 28, 1928 in Wilkes-Barre a daughter of Frank Patrick and Genevieve McCann Heffers.
Evelyn was a member of St. James Parish in Washington and attended mass at St. Hilary Church where she was a volunteer for various church events and a member of the Christian Mothers. She was also active in the church for several years as an usher.
Evelyn was a member of the American Legion Post #175 Auxiliary, the Moose Lodge #318, and the Washington Senior Citizens where she enjoyed volunteering whenever the opportunity would arise. Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Seniors and Dancers. She also enjoyed Bingo and Steelers Football.
Her first husband John Patten passed away in 1995. Her second husband Charles Anderson preceded her in death in 2008.
Surviving is a daughter Rosemary (James) Sickles of Washington and a son John (Linda) Patten of Washington, her grandchildren Megan (Arthur Gorka) Sickles , Benjamin Sickles, Ashley (Tommy) Giles, and Skylar (Matthew Trapizona) Patten, step grandchild James Sickles III, great grandchildren Tyler Sickles, Trenten and Traxten Giles and Frances Gorka, and step great grandchild James Sickles, IV.
In recent years, she enjoyed spending time with her companion Bob Lowman.
Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son Edwin A. Patten, a brother Joseph Heffers, and sister Geraldine Grebinski.
Friends will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 1290 Jefferson Avenue in Washington.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday December 11, 2021 in St. Hilary Church in Washington. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens in McMurray.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Washington Senior Center.
