Margaret “Peggy” Craig, 84, of Washington passed away Saturday May 11, 2024 in Woodside Place of Washington.
She was born July 8, 1939 in Altoona a daughter of Roy I. and Sarah F. Heberling Boyles.
Peggy was a graduate of Altoona High School Class of 1957 and 1960 graduate of Altoona School of Nursing.
Peggy was most recently employed as a Registered Nurse by Washington Pediatrics.
She was an award winning master gardener, and was frequently known to give away flowers and gardening service to many in the area. Peggy was an active volunteer for numerous community organizations. She was passionate about helping others.
On November 24, 1962 in Altoona, she married her middle school and high school sweetheart Richard T. Craig who resides in Washington. She and her husband recently celebrated sixty-one years of marriage.
They were inseparable and truly the love of each other’s lives.
Surviving are three children Kim (Paul) Smith of Concord, NC, Scott (Rhonda) Craig of Washington, and Mark (Jennifer) Craig of Washington; seven grandchildren Morgan (Chris) Durila, Margo Craig, Conner (Jordan) Craig, Kelsey (Jesse) Starr, Casey Craig, Abbey O’Connor, Carson Craig; and a great grandchild Emerson Kessler. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters John, Evelyn, Dale, Leslie and Virginia.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassionate care given to Peggy at Woodside Place and by Gateway Hospice.
There will be no visitation, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Private interment will be held in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
