Margaret Elizabeth “Betty” Krol, 96, of Washington, died peacefully on Thursday, March 31, 2016 in Washington Hospital. Beloved wife for 67 years of the late Frank A. Krol, and mother of Mary Louise Cravero, she was born on May 23, 1919  in Ashville, PA.  She was the daughter of Edward W. Abel and Evangeline O’Neill Abel, who later moved to Washington and established the Abel Funeral Home, at 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington.

Mrs. Krol taught business, including typing and shorthand at Washington High School prior to being a homemaker after the start of her family. She was beloved by her former students who would often stop by her house years later. Betty, as she was known, will be fondly remembered for her warmth, quick wit and her insatiable curiosity. She was active in several bridge clubs and did crossword puzzles daily. She and her husband were together as residents at Strabane Woods of Washington and Transitions Nursing Home.

 She is survived by her sisters in law, Helen Abel and Ann Schroeder, niece Mary Ann (Mike) Ferguson and nephews  John (Laurie) Abel and Edward (Mary) Abel and the Damon Faldowski family. She was a life long member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church. 

Arrangements are and burial will be held at a later date in Hastings, PA.
