Mary Jane Rosenwald, 87, of Canonsburg passed away Friday May 24, 2024 in Townview Health and Rehabilitation Center in Canonsburg.
She was born October 29, 1936 in Hickory a daughter of the late Lawrence and Helen Hawkins Herriott Mounts. She was a step-daughter of the late Charles G. Mounts.
Mrs. Rosenwald was born on the family farm in Hickory where she grew up and graduated from Hickory High School. During her early childhood she contracted polio, but never let it get her down. She lived a full and complete life and was a caring and loving person who wanted to care of everyone. She always had more strength mentally and physically than many would.
Mary Jane was a member of St. Oscar Romero Parish and attended mass at St. Patrick Church.
She enjoyed her grandchildren, playing bingo, playing cards, crocheting, knitting and baking.
She also graduated from the Business Training College in Pittsburgh. After completing business school, she began working for Sanford Motors in Pittsburgh, where she met the love of her life Edward A. Rosenwald whom she married September 13, 1958 in Holy Innocent Church in Sheridan.
Her husband Edward passed away May 19, 2018 after fifty-nine years of marriage.
Surviving are two daughters Patricia (A. Jay) White of Cecil, Donna (Lloyd) Leichliter of McDonald, and two sons Lawrence (Kristine) Rosenwald of Canonsburg and David (Susan) Rosenwald of Glen Burnie, MD; fourteen grand-children, nine great grand-children and one great-great grandson on the way.. Also surviving is a sister Bonnie Moses of Columbus, OH and two brothers David (Sally) Herriott of Hickory and James Herriott of Washington. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Deborah L. Rosenwald and three brothers Ronald, William and Jack Herriott, and a great grand-daughter Hope Noelle Zirwas.
Friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday May 29, 2024 in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 194 East College Street in Canonsburg. Departing prayers will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Thursday May 30, 2024 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in St. Patrick Church in Canonsburg. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens in Peters Township.
