Mary Jo (Ross) Castafero

­­Mary Jo (Ross) Castafero, age 81 of Canonsburg, PA, on Wednesday Jan. 25, 2023 has entered the Kingdom of Heaven on January 25, 2023. She was born August 5, 1941 in Brockway, PA. Mary Jo was the eldest daughter of the late Ralph F. Castafero and Frances L. (Amatrone) Castafero and cherished mother of Lance Erdos (Lynn) of Upper St. Clair, PA. Loving sister of Richard R. Castafero (Gail) of Springfield, PA; Kathy Klemanski (Ed) of Farmington, CT and Jerry Castafero (Jeanne) of Radnor, PA. She was blessed to have three loving grandchildren (Grammie Jo) Heath, Brady and Colt Erdos who were the love of her life.

Mrs. (Ross) Castafero was a teacher of 37 years in the Chartiers-Houston School District. She had a natural love for the elementary and middle school students assigned to her constantly following their exploits through high school and beyond. Her interests included European travel, multiple trips to the Jersey shore and New England, Walt Disney World, and many tailgates and football games at the University of Delaware. But her passion and love became her grandchildren. Cheering them on field for football games, in the gym during basketball games and in an arena for hockey games.

Mary Jo was a graduate of Ridgway (Elk County) High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania having earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education.

A viewing will be held at St Patrick’s RC Church, her home parish, on February 21, 2023 from 9:30 to 10AM followed by a Mass of Christian burial with entombment beside her parents at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to Chartiers-Houston Library, 730 West Grant Steet, Houston, PA 15342.
