It is with deepest sadness that the family of Ray Pittman, 54, of Washington announce his passing on Friday, August 30, 2024 from muscular dystrophy. As he had wished, he died at his home and was surrounded by his family while under Hospice care.
Ray was born on September 22, 1969, a son of Jon Ray Pittman and Jean Caruso Pittman. Growing up he attended Wolfdale School and participated in youth sports. He loved to go hunting, fishing, swimming and camping. He graduated from Trinity High School in 1987 and from Slippery Rock University in 1993 with a degree in Community Health. He was attending Logan University in St. Louis studying to become a chiropractor until he had a series of strokes which stopped him from continuing. He was last employed at TRPIL/VFI South for 14 years as the Wellness Coordinator. He loved his job working in the gym helping others to regain their strength and overall health.
He enjoyed music and attended many live concerts. He loved animals and sports and was a totally devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Surviving along with his parents is his brother, Jon Michael Pittman, whom he both loved and admired so much. Also surviving are his Aunt Gerri Ellenberger of Woodbridge, VA, Uncle and Godfather Paul Sieber of Carnegie, Aunt Nan and Uncle Bob Caruso of Broken Arrow, OK and many dear cousins and friends.
Deceased are his grandparents, Ray and Hazel Pittman and Sam and Lena Caruso, his Aunt and God Mother, Pat Sieber and his constant companion - his dog, Maggie.
The family would like to thank Ray’s devoted caregivers Francis Adams, Diane Stack-Ankrom and Larry (Buck) Walker and also Concordia Hospice of Washington for the excellent care he received.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Ave. Washington, PA. 15301 where visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 5th from 2 pm to 8 pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Area Humane Society, 1527 PA 136, Eighty Four, PA 15330 or to TRPIL/VFI South, 42 W. Maiden St, Washington, PA 15301.
