Rev. George V. Jackovic, 95, entered into eternal rest Thursday October 1, 2015 in Southmont Presbyterian Senior Care in Washington.
He was born on May 3, 1920 in Canonsburg the son of George and Marie Jackovic.
During his youth, he attended elementary school in Canonsburg in the Third Ward, and graduated from Canonsburg High School.
Father Jackovic was Ordained as a Roman Catholic Priest on June 16, 1946 by Bishop Hugh C. Boyle at Saint Vincent Archabbey in Latrobe, PA.
He was incardinated into the Diocese of Pittsburgh on June 16, 1946.
Father Jackovic was assigned as Parochial Vicar at Saint Joachim Parish in Pittsburgh from 1946 to 1951, Saint Mark Parish in McKees Rocks from 1951 to 1953, Sacred Heart Mission Parish in Nemacolin, Our Lady of Consolation Parish in Carmichaels and Saint Mary Mission Parish in Nemacolin from 1953 to 1958, Immaculate Conception Parish in Pittsburgh from 1958 to 1966 and then as Pastor of Holy Family Parish in Creighton from 1966 to 1994.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Canonsburg Council #3291 of Canonsburg and Bishop Boyle Assembly #922. He was also a member of Priest’s Choir, Chaplin of St. Vincent DePaul Society, Chaplin of Knights of Columbus in Canonsburg and Chaplin of the Catholic Daughters of America.
After a long and faithful career spanning nearly five decades, he retired from service on February 7, 1994.

Surviving are cousins Kay DeBaker, Francis Churney, Dorothy Patriarco, Margaret Ladish, Rosella Brown, Tom Jackovic, Joe Jackovic, George Jackovic, Jack Jackovic, Terry Caplan and Bernie Maylard and a first cousin onece removed, Dennis (Johanna) Trylko.
Deceased are cousins Mary Klements, Betty Popovich, Joe Churney, John Churney, Martin Churney, Albert Churney, Betty Melicki, Joe Jackovic, Marge Trylko and Doris Heryko.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Albert Jackovic.
Friends will be received from 4-9 p.m. Monday in St. Patrick Roman Church at 317 West Pike Street in Canonsburg. A Vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday in St. Patrick Church during the visitation. The vigil service will be attended by the Knights of Columbus Council #3291.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday October 6, 2015 in St. Patrick Roman Church with Bishop David A. Zubik as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray. Arrangements are in the Care of Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home in Canonsburg.
