Thelma C. “Tum” Paletta, 91, a lifelong resident of Washington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 16, 2021 in her home.
She was born on April 18, 1930 in Washington the daughter of the late Frank and Elvira Jeninette Paletta.
Thelma was a member of St. James Parish in Washington and attended mass at St. Hilary Church.
She was a self-employed hairdresser at one time and was well known for giving her friends and neighbors Pixi-Cuts.
She loved to go to the casinos and to the Meadows Racetrack to enjoy the races.
She loved to bake around the holidays to share her goods with her family and friends.
Thelma fulfilled her lifelong dream of traveling to Italy to meet her extended family which was the highlight of her life.
Bell Telephone Company employed her as a supervisor for many years.
She was the last of her immediate family.
Surviving are three nephews, Joseph M. Paletta of Washington, and Mark and Jamie Paletta; and her God-daughter Sandy Vankirk also of Washington, and several extended family members.
Also surviving are a few other nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Thelma’s hospice nurse, Jenna, for the loving care that she provided.
Deceased are a sister Emma Paletta and three brothers Joe, Sam and Tony Paletta and a nephew Robert Paletta.
Friends will be received from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Friday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home in Washington. A blessing service will be held at 3:30 Friday November 19, 2021 immediately following the visitation.
Interment will be held privately in Washington Cemetery.
