William R. Schildknecht, 80, of Canonsburg passed away Tuesday February 23, 2016 in St. Clair Hospital.
He was born October 24, 1935 in Braddock, PA the son of Harry O. and Wilma Muir Schildknecht.
An active member of Holy Rosary Church in Muse, PA, Bill was a veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Korea.
In 2002, Mr. Schildknecht retired from a career in retail banking that spanned more than forty years.
On April 22, 1961 in St. Thomas Church in Braddock, he married Mary Margaret Britanik.
Also surviving are a daughter Karen (Edward) Bittner of Scott Township and a son William R. Jr., (Rita Mei) Schildknecht of San Mateo, CA, and two granddaughters April and Lauren Bittner.
He was preceded in death by a brother Harry J. Schildknecht and a sister Betty Hester.
Friends will be received from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 194 East College Street in Canonsburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 Friday February 26, 2016 in Holy Rosary Church in Muse. Interment will follow in The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Cecil Township.
